  • Jupiter are going on a bear hunt!

    Fri 12 Mar 2021

It has been a lovely first week back with our friends. This week Jupiter have learnt the story ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ including actions. Miss Cant spotted a bear on the KS1 yard and filmed it so we have been looking for it ever since. We have even started planning our own animal hunt stories. We are hunting for snakes, butterflies and even giraffes!

  • Brilliant biscuit buildings!

    Thu 11 Mar 2021

This week, I set the whole school an unusual challenge… design and make a building made entirely of biscuits.

The children began the task earlier in the week by designing their creation. They were allowed to use a maximum of 12 biscuits and could choose from the following: Rich Tea, Nice, Bourbon, Malted Milk, Digestive, Hobnob or Custard Cream.

They were encouraged to think about the shape of the building they wanted to create and how the different shaped biscuits could be used to achieve this. The whole structure also had to be edible, so they had to come up with an idea for their edible glue, which would help to hold the structure together. Some children used icing, others buttercream, a few chose melted chocolate and we even had some melted marshmallow!

Today, most of our classes set about the building stage, with some fantastic creations all round! The other classes will have a go tomorrow. Keep an eye out for your class blog where you might see more photos

  • Blindfold challenge

    Thu 11 Mar 2021

Neptune have settled back into school really well and are certainly pleased to see all of her friends again. This week they have particularly enjoyed their ‘Active Timetable’ and getting outdoors lots. In our forest school session on Monday, the children worked in their house teams to design an obstacle course, unbeknown to them that they would be guiding the other teams over this blindfolded! The children worked fantastically together and had a great time.

Venus has spent the whole week celebrating the wonderful world of books! We have made reading dens, read and listened to stories, made bookmarks, performed poetry and even joined in with our some familiar stories in Spanish, French and German. Then on World Book Day we dressed up and turned potatoes into our favourite characters. What a fun week we had!

  • Enjoying Books!

    Fri 05 Mar 2021

This week, books have been so much fun! We made Purple Pickle Pancakes inspired by the Gruffalo. Brilliant book nooks sent us running for our reading corners. Floors were carpeted with books and paths made through the house. Scavenger hunts, book bingo, cartoon capers and bookmarks made us all laugh.
