Achievement for all
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Christmas in Saturn has been fun. We have all enjoyed making our Christingles, cards and calendars. There has been lots of singing and dancing too. I don’t think any of us will forget our advent calendar dances.
Last half term, all children in KS2 enjoyed Sportshall Athletics coaching from Miss Tingate. To complete this unit of work, all children took part in a competition involving five events: vertical jump, long jump, chest push, speed bounce and a 100m shuttle run. Children gained points in each event they took part in, and these results have been collated for each year group. I can now reveal the results are as follows…

Well done to all of the children for taking part. All of the results have now been sent to Gateshead SSP so that we can compete virtually against other schools in the borough.
In Saturn, we had a fantastic day. The film was amazing and the hot chocolate and cookies were delicious. We laughed and gasped at the children’s adventurous ride on the Polar Express. Santa’s bells at the end of the day were a delight. Everyone went home smiling.
Even with all the Christmas excitement starting this week Jupiter have still been working very hard in our lessons. This week in Maths we have been finding the difference between two numbers. We used cubes to make the two numbers and then counted the difference between them to help us write our subtraction calculation.
The 1st December is a very important day! Mars spent the day decorating Christmas tree’s, writing letters to Santa and completing a phonics hunt. To end the day we baked our very own special Christmas cookies to enjoy with milk and a Christmas story!
Mars thoroughly enjoyed their day on board the Polar Express. We used our magical pixie dust to go on a ride to the North Pole! When we arrived it had been snowing and we spent some time discussing all the different animals you might find. We jumped back on the train and travelled back to school before it got too cold! We then watched the movie with hot chocolate and cookies to warm us through ….. delicious!
During forest school, children in Mars explored the woodland environment through the eyes of different animals. We lay on the ground to view our surroundings through the eyes of a hedgehog. We then used magnifying glasses to find out how a spider would see the world. Finally we walked to the top of the hill to see what it would be like to be a bird looking over the valley from high above. We ended the session with an obligatory roll down the hill!
