  • Creating our own Water Cycle

Fri 27 May 2022 Mrs Mustard and Miss Sowerby

In Geography, Neptune have been learning all about the water cycle in their Rivers topic. We found out that the water cycle has 4 stages before the cycle repeats. We did an experiment to show how the water cycle works by placing a cup in the middle of a bowl, filling the bowl with hot water and then covering the bowl with cling film to catch the water vapour. We saw the water collecting on the cling film before it began to fall and collect in the cup. The children saw that this showed when the clouds get too heavy that’s when it starts to rain.

  • Anglo-Saxon Villages

Fri 27 May 2022 Miss Tweedy

Earth had lots of fun designing, creating and presenting their own Anglo-Saxon villages. They even had to think of a name for their village that ended with an Anglo-Saxon suffix!

  • Blazing the Trail

Fri 27 May 2022 Mrs McCue

This week, Saturn completed the Blazing The Trail project for the Gateshead School Partnership's Olympic Legacy Programme. The programme is built on the 7 Olympic and Paralympic values.

We were challenged to complete the 'Respect' part of the programme by using our knowledge and some geographical research to create a Commonwealth World Map. The map had to include respect in an individual and creative way. As a class, we decided to include the words understanding, respect, empathy and friendship from different commonwealth countries. The maps also included flags and creative colouring.

  • Year 6 Cricket tournament

Tue 24 May 2022 Miss Bainbridge

Year 6 had a wonderful day at Whickham cricket club competing against other Gateshead schools. We had three teams and every player gave it their best shot. We won some, we lost some, but unfortunately we didn’t get through to the next round. Due to the unpredictable weather, we only got to play 2 and a half games which was a shame but we all had fun!

  • Super Smoothies!

Mon 23 May 2022 Miss Cant

This half term Jupiter have been learning about fruits and vegetables and the role they play in a healthy diet. After we learnt how to identify whether something is a fruit or vegetable, we have tasted a range of them and planned recipes for our own smoothie. Today we learnt how to safely chop and peel to create our own tasty drink. They tasted yummy and even better they are good for us!

  • SATs are over!

Thu 12 May 2022 Miss Bainbridge

SATs are over! A massive well done to Year 6 completing their SATs this week. You have all done an amazing job and should be very proud of yourself, I certainly am ☺️. We then had lots of fun enjoying a delicious picnic in the park.

Tue 10 May 2022 Mrs Mustard

In Art, Neptune have been creating optical illusions based on the work of Luz Perez Ojeda. They used mathematical skills to measure and draw accurate lines in order to create an optical illusion with precision.
