  • Bringing the tourists to Gateshead!

    After beginning our new class text – The London Eye Mystery – this week, Mercury class have been designing their own landmark or tourist attraction which would encourage people to visit Gateshead. We conducted some research into what makes current tourist attractions popular, using CAD software to design our ideas, then made a model of them using a variety of tools and materials.

  • Marvellous Marble Runs

    This week, Saturn have enjoyed making marble runs. We have used a variety of materials to complete our DT projects. Everyone had lots of fun!

  • Happy Chinese New Year!

    Venus have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have read and listened to many Chinese legends and learned how the years were names. We have made lanterns, dragons, picture frames and pellet drums. We have also written stories, solved maths problems and learned amazing facts about Chinese animals. It is the Year of the Ox so we have even made origami oxen.

  • Paint!

    Mars had lots of fun painting using a range of different techniques. We used the large rollers to print different patterns and explored using a paintbrush in different ways.

  • Inventive Instruments

    This week Neptune have enjoyed completing a DT project. The children had to research, design, plan and create an instrument based on a given design brief. Their instruments are inspired by musical instruments from a wide range of countries , with the capabilities of creating sound in different ways. I have to say I couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and effort that has gone into these projects by the children both at home and in school. Well done Neptune!

  • Playing in the snow

    The last week of half term has seen a lot of snow. As well as sledging we have made snow angels and some of us snow bathed! The snow was so bright we even needed our sunglasses.

  • Super Space Learning!

    Mrs Erskine has really enjoyed looking through the work completed by Mercury class, both at home and in school. They showed great attention to detail and creativity in their Space learning.

    It has been a busy week in Saturn. We have had great fun learning and playing, at home and in school. Mrs McCue has enjoyed seeing photographs of all the different things we have done. We have learnt lots. Look at our super gallery.

    This week, Mercury class have fully embraced our themes for Children’s Mental Health Week. We have considered our feelings on the inside and on the outside, designed hearts full of kindness, tested our communication skills to the full, and shown our gratitude to others! A wonderful week.
