  • Exploring our country

Fri 14 Jan 2022 Miss Tweedy

Earth’s geography topic this term is all about the UK. We used atlases to identify cities in the UK and then used compasses to look at direction. We found it a little tricky at first but were able to remember compass directions by saying Never Eat Shredded Wheat!

  • Lots of learning!

Thu 13 Jan 2022 Miss Cant

This week Jupiter have been very busy in the afternoons. In Geography we have been learning about the four countries of the United Kingdom, we tasted a food from each country and had to remember which country it is linked to and decide if we liked it or not! In Art we have been practising etching, using clay we made snail shells and etched patterns into them. Finally in Science we conducted an experiment to see how to melt ice. We used sugar, salt, hot and cold water to try find the best combination to melt it. We learnt that sugar and salt help to lower the freezing point for ice and make it melt quicker, the hot water also helped to warm up the ice!

  • Photographers in the making!

Thu 13 Jan 2022 Miss Bainbridge

Mercury are learning photography in Art and Design this term and have made their own truisms showing a meaningful and positive message. They explored various areas of school, they took photos to use as their background before editing and adding their personal quotes. Check them out! We certainly have some photographers in the class!

  • Pneumatic Toys

Fri 07 Jan 2022 Miss Tweedy

Earth have enjoyed learning all about pneumatics in DT. After exploring what pneumatics were, Earth designed and created their own pneumatic toy using some cardboard, balloons and PVC tubing! We all got very creative and enjoyed evaluating our toys to see how we could make them even better.
