We have worked together to make super story sticks to help us to retell the main events of the Great Fire of Gateshead and Newcastle.
In preparation for Earth’s trip to the Great North Museum on Wednesday, we have been studying Egyptian Hieroglyphics very closely by making Ancient Egyptian scrolls. Firstly, we used tea bags to make the scrolls look old and torn, once they were dried, we used a hieroglyphic code to write our secret messages in!
This week in our outdoor session, Neptune were set the challenge of bringing their cave art skills outdoors in the woods. The children were given no resources and were very creative in what they managed to come up with.
Jupiter have been learning all about the meaning of Remembrance Day today. We have learnt why we celebrate it and the symbols that represent it. In Literacy, we looked at pictures of poppies, soldiers, medals and a statue with a wreath. We have written sentences to match the pictures. We also have been painting poppies in the Creative Area, making poppy pictures using loose parts and printed a poppy using an apple!
In history, Earth have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians. After looking closely at different pyramids the Egyptians built, we put our skills to the test to build our own!
In preparation for this term’s DT project, Neptune have created their own switches and tested them in a complete circuit.
We have been revising 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. We then used nets to help us make our designs using Tinkercad.
