Neptune began their new geography topic exploring the continent of Europe. We began by using atlases to name and locate the different countries on a map.
This week Venus have been working on instructions. We looked at different sets of instructions to spot what they had in common. We then used this to agree on the features of instructions.
Mars had a great time showing their parents around the classroom at our stay and play event this afternoon. We made pumpkins, fireworks pictures and practised our hammering skills with the pumpkins. A great afternoon had by all.
Yesterday Venus carried out an investigation to answer the question: Do all balls bounce? We tested six different balls on three different surfaces and discussed our results. We talked about the properties of the balls and why this might affect how high they bounce.
Earth had a great time exploring Roman numerals in the woods yesterday. They were challenged to create numbers and calculations using natural materials only.
Venus have enjoyed reading the poem Full of Surprises by Paul Cookson. Today we worked in pairs to look for patterns in the poem. We found rhyming and repetition.
In PSHE, Venus have been discussing disagreements and how to deal with problems in friendships. We read scenario cards with our partners and came up with advice.
Earth had great fun building a Roman marching camp in forest school. We enjoyed exploring how the Roman’s would build there camps when at war and we only used natural materials to do it - just like the Romans did!
Venus have been listening for the beat during their music lesson. They had a great time pretending to be toys on the move and marking the beats within each musical piece.
Neptune spent a pleasant afternoon in the woods. We took bark rubbings of trees and leaves. Now to name the species!
