Pupil Voice
At Washingwell we pride ourselves on our students having a voice. We value their views on every aspect of school life where possible. We want to nurture a culture where all children feel listened to, valued, respected and empowered. We want children to learn to make informed choices and express their opinions carefully in the classroom, on the playground and throughout the wider school community.
There are a range of opportunities which allow children to use their voice effectively.
School Council - This is an elected group of children who explore whole school focuses and then lead a discussion back in their classrooms.
School Ambassadors - The two School Ambasssadors are voted for by all children in the school and represent Washingwell at school led, community and sometimes even national events.
House Captains - We have four houses at Washingwell; Atlantis, Discovery, Columbia and Endeavour. Each house is led by two captains who encourage and support their house to 'Reach for the Stars' and the ultimate annual prize.
Playground Buddies - Children from Years 5 and 6 are specially trained to help with the younger children in Early Years and key Stage 1. They are found on the Key Stage 1 playground at lunchtimes.
Sports Crew- Organise inter-school sports activities throughout the year.
Pupil Questionnaires - We ask all pupils their opinions each year to ensure we understand and address any relevant issues.
